The Village of South Elgin is a close knit community rich in history and natural beauty. South Elgin is a village that is easily accessible, but tucked away far enough to be free of busy highways. Highway 20 runs east to west just north of South Elgin, and provides residents with quick access to the Elgin/O’Hare Bypass. Illinois routes 31 and 25 cross the village on either side of the Fox River. I-90, with access to Rockford and Chicago, is only a few miles north on either 31 or 25.
Travelers who need to fly can reach O’Hare International in 30 minutes, Midway International in 45 minutes, and DuPage County Airport in less than 15 minutes.
PACE Bus Service 801 connects South Elgin to nearby Kane County destinations, as well as routes 529 and 802. Commuters who wish to take the train can catch the Metra Milwaukee District West Line at National Street in Elgin, or Railroad Avenue in Bartlett.
South Elgin has nine public and private schools ranging from preschool to 12th grade. School District U-46 serves many schools in Kane County including those in South Elgin.

The Annual Scandinavian Day Festival is also held in Vasa Park. Every September, ancestors of Scandinavians gather for food, crafts, and fellowship. Live Scandinavian inspired music is performed and Nordic Cultural artifacts will be available to teach a new generation about their special history.
The Park District of South Elgin offers many activities for village residents. Enjoy the annual Fourth of July Parade and Harvest Festival, play disc golf at Panton Mill Park, or grab a helmet and grind out your trucks at the Sperry Park Skate Park.
